Art Pop is a pop-up art program that started in Culliton (formerly Farnum) park. Art Pop's mission is to bring art to communities to heal, transform, and celebrate public space. We believe in Creative Placekeeping and celebrate the ways that communities define and transform space in spite of the intended design. Art Pop is run by artist Salina Almanzar with assistance from local photographer Osmyn Josef Oree. We will share our schedule of new events soon! Stay tuned! Art Pop will also be available for bookings!
what we do!
Art Pop literally pops up in public spaces fully equipped with art supplies, tables, chairs, and projects for communal art making. Whether it's painting, zine making, weaving, or puppet making, we aim to use arts and crafts projects to dig deeply into what community means, how we will envision more inclusive communities together, and what we want to honor from our collective histories. Art Pop started as a project driven by the renovation of Culliton Park and the need to survey the community immediately surrounding the park. Since then, we have been invited to block parties and community events to facilitate conversations about community, change, and healing through the arts. Are most notable work has manifested in to iterations of murals featuring images of community members and their vision for the Culliton park neighborhood. Read more about the history of Art Pop here!
