PEACE, PA MIGRANT EDUCATION PROGRAM, MURAL CAMP, 2022

As part of PA Migrant Education's summer camp series, the mural camp is a week long engagement where students learn the basics of mural making and how to share impactful messages through visual media. Students sketch, collaborate, and paint a large scale, mobile mural. The 2022 class culminated in an exhibition at the Ware Center where students process were shared alongside an exhibition about social practice art. Students in this program are immigrant and refugee students from a wide variety of backgrounds. This camp allows them an opportunity to use visual language and share their experiences without having to rely on communicating in English. This is the second iteration of this camp that I have led.
